We are proud to announce that Krispy Kremes soft serve is now available in 17 of their stores across the UK, in the classic and unmistakable sugar glazed donut flavour. Read on to find out how they created this new flavour and how the Carpigiani 161 G SP machine helped bring their vision to life.
Back in 2017, Krispy Kreme came up with the idea to create a soft serve offer to add to their menu deck. Subsequently, they contacted Carpigiani through LinkedIn on November 23rd, and the Carpigiani team arranged a visit to our London development kitchen for a meeting and to provide an initial demonstration of our soft serve machines to show them what was on offer.
Following the initial meeting, our team worked closely with Krispy Kreme to brainstorm how the product could look and be served, to best entice and excite the customer. Flavour ideas were also discussed as Krispy Kreme wanted to create a unique ice cream in line with their brand.
After the concept was decided, we then sent a demo machine to Krispy Kreme HQ to allow them to present this to the board, complete with a demonstration from Carpigiani. The next stage was to complete a store trial in 6 of Krispy Kreme’s stores, and we were able to support Krispy Kreme commercially with the equipment needed for this trial, which was extremely successful. After this trial, we were then able to agree pricing and a plan with Krispy Kreme to roll out the new soft serve in a further 11 stores, on top of the original 6 trial stores.
We chose our 161 G SP model for the Krispy Kreme soft serve, as it has a number of features suitable for their requirements. It has a self-pasteurising feature which delivers saving in food waste, labour savings and will help Krispy Kreme to increase their food safety. This means the unit does not need to be stripped down for cleaning until day 30.
We’re pleased to announce that 17 stores went live on Monday 29th April with the new Krispy Kreme soft serve, which is available as a sundae or can be served as an extra on top of donuts. The Carpigiani team has loved providing Krispy Kreme with the equipment to develop the new “Ice Kreme” offer which really does taste like their famous origianl glazed donuts!
